RCR: Darkest Night YEG 2016
December 21 2016 // Mill Creek Ravine
What do you do at midnight on the Darkest Night of 2016 in YEG? You go for an 8k solstice run from Old Timers Cabin on Scona Rd., and you post tweets and insta’s to #GetLitYEG.
The second—don’t quote me on this—annual RCR Darkest Night YEG is another example of a thriving and strong running community in Edmonton, even on the absolutely shortest day, and longest night of the year.
I bike, they run, on snow covered paths winding through just a small corner of our vast river valley. Lined by trees hanging overhead, we turn a quiet dark path into a rush hour of runners…for nothing more than 50 minutes. Starting at 12:01am.
Thank-you to the runners, Lululemon YEG for another round of amazing support from all your people that continually come out to these events and make them great. November Project’ers, most of which were likely up for a 6am workout as well.
And of course, my RCR family for making another something cool happen. Enjoy the run story!
