MEC Edmonton Trail Race One: 5K/10K
May 6 2017 // Mill Creek Ravine, Edmonton, AB
It’s 100% race season and this weekend was a big one for me starting with the MEC Edmonton Trail Race One: 5K/10K on Saturday which saw nearly 500 folks head out into a dry, but rutted, Mill Creek ravine.
I’ve never shot a trail race before so this was a nice change of pace. I definitely learned some things, and will be much better next time out. I also learned that trail running looks crazy fun! I’m not allowed to play on the trails with knees that need to get a tune up, but hot damn, I know what will most definitely be part of the rehab when I finally do get my “CL’s” fixed. I highly recommend anyone to hit some trails and sign up for one of the MEC races this season. They are super cheap, and I might even be giving entries away throughout the year!
Thanks to MEC for having me out on what turned into a seriously hot day, and thanks to all the runners out there for their effort, smiles, and super positive attitudes as I buzzed around trying to stay out of their way in the leafless trails. I can’t wait for some warmer weather, rain, and for the river valley to do it’s annual bloom. It’s going to be so fun shooting in the trails this year.
This is just a small set of my favourites, but a full set can be seen on the MEC Facebook page soon enough I believe. Enjoy the photos!
