Creative Mornings: April Dean on Transparency
November 1 2016 // SNAP Gallery, Edmonton, AB
It has been far too long since I’ve taken photos at a Creative Mornings in Edmonton, but that all changed last week as I flip flopped my way to SNAP Gallery for April Dean‘s talk on transparency.
In a talk about transparency, my favourite line from April was; “technology is…opaque”. I am certainly not opposed to technology, but I do believe that a lot of our communication technologies do add a level of opaque extraction to communication.
For my entire adult life, I haven’t had a phone. The reasons have morphed over the years as to why, but one underlying theme is that the tethering of the phone has always felt wrong to me—for lack of a more concise word. Well, that concise word just might be opaque. I’m definitely rolling it into my framework of thought regarding communication.
Enough of my rambling. I took photos, so I am going to share those photos now. Enjoy!
